In an effort to work with our friends at Sunny South Raceway, we will not be running the MAXXIS EL tire races this weekend. We will still be running our regular open tire rule events. This is to keep the kart count up at both tracks. Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you Saturday! ***Any driver under the age of 18 years old need to bring their Birth Certificate and a copy for us to keep on file, or a drivers permit or license to verify their age.*** After recapping the race with my wife, there are a few concerns that I feel need to be addressed. Seeing this happen a few times in the Pro races and now it is happening in our plate classes, BLOCKING while driving is a major safety issue. In the past I have personally seen a kart wheel hop and the nose of the body rolled up and pinned the driver's neck and body against the steering wheel. Bruised shoulder blades was the result of that. The driver's safety is our first priority. So if a driver BLOCKS, they will be black flagged and sent off the track. ZERO TOLERANCE. We do not want to train our young drivers to drive this way. And older drivers you should be smart enough not to do it. Plate drivers will be given a warning if found blocking. The decision on blocking is up to the flagman and/or a track official. Teching will be done this week and throughout the rest of the season. It will be performed in a systematic manner. Over the scales for the weight, fuel checked, then line up the top 3 karts in a dress-right-dress fashion. (If you don't know what that means ask a military man.) When your class is called for teching, you must be present or you will be disqualified. Any questions please contact Dawn at 334-379-6269. -Michael McInerney |
